Sports Fitness & Fun is pleased to announce that our competitive gymnastics teams have had an outstanding season. Over 70 gymnasts in their USA Gymnastics League and US Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs League teams competed in numerous State, Regional and National Championships.
In gymnastics, athletes strive for movements to be precise and flawless through repetitive training. 10.0 is a perfect score- the highest score possible in any competition.
Deana Sherameta of Bloomingburg performed two perfect 10.0 routines on floor exercise and balance beam and Nicole Bellettiere of Slate Hill also received a 10.0 on her balance beam at the Level 5 State Championships. The USAG league’s Level 4 and Level 7 teams took home State Championship titles. Additionally, Alisa Sherameta of Bloomingburg, Nicole Bellettiere of Slate Hill, Leah Levin of Monroe and Madison Yager of Middletown took 1st place All-Around at the State Championships, the highest honor in gymnastics, with Alisa also taking 1st place All-Around at the Regional Championships.
Their USIAGC League’s Bronze Level team took Regional Champion and Gold Level team took State Champion against stiff competition. Bani Chilana of Middletown, Kara VanDyk of Monroe and Sabrina Smith of Scotchtown won 1st place All-Around at their State Championships with Bani and Kara taking Regional Championship victories in Wildwood, New Jersey. Bani and Sabrina also walked away from the National Championships with first place titles on balance beam and vault respectively.
